Quality Hotel & Suites

The room and the lobby are clean. That’s the good part. It is pretty outdated, and that would be fine if the price was reflective of that. But the amount we paid to stay was too much for what we got. Huge confusion over my booking as the website had cancelled one of my nights. The credit card they had on file for me upon checkout wasn’t one I recognized at all (sketchy), and the room was either freezing or humid, no in-between. The shower is great, lots of nice clean towels, tiny shampoo, and soap. The beds were comfortable but super old/noisy to roll over in. The TV kept conking out. The ATM in the lobby was down our entire trip (not good since we didn’t have a car there and the cabs only take cash FYI). The waffle maker was fun. The fruit was oranges and apples. Thank goodness breakfast was free since I’m sure the scrambled eggs were powdered, there was no bacon (only bologna), and no butter (only margarine). Warning if you need ANY level of accessibility: this hotel doesn’t have it! SO many levels, stairs, getting to the pool is a whole system of inaccessible stairs, doors, and slippery tiles. My poor mom (a senior) was struggling with all the stairs and walking so I can’t imagine someone trying to use a wheelchair or a walker at this hotel. When I asked what I could walk to from there, I was told to CROSS THE TRANS CANADA HIGHWAY to visit a flight museum. Or take a cab to get to it for $8. To go across the road. That was a head shaker. I did walk to the orange store next door, and the walkability is about a 4/100 since you’re literally walking a 2 foot wide path on the side of the TCH Staff were hit or miss, some friendly and sweet, and some scoffing, sighing, or just plain unfriendly and not helpful. Our best experience was at supper time, a lovely lady named Josie served us and she is a gem. I hope they treasure her as an employee, she made our evening so pleasant. Hungry mosquitos the size of your head are everywhere, outside on the small outdoor patio, inside the foyer, inside the lobby. We were eaten alive. A bug zapper, light, or some kind of system would go a long way there.

C$176 per night with complimentary hot breakfast. Off the TCH. Walking distance to Mary Browns, Visitors Centre and the Aviation Museum. Secured wifi. No microwave oven in room, but there is one in the lobby for common use. Good sized rooms, clean and comfy. This hotel chain can be trusted.

This place is rundown and dirty. The wallpaper in our hotel room is peeling, there is nowhere to put any toiletries in the washroom, there are stains in the carpets throughout the hallways, and gym has 3 pieces of equipment that haven’t been maintained and an incomplete set of hand-weights. It’s the worst Quality Inn we have ever stayed at.

We travelled from Port aux Basque from the ferry and stayed here for the night what a wonderful place and extreme great people everything was so clean We loved the room we had clean and fresh lots of parking here. Very close to restaurants for dinner

Stayed in Gander overnight to see Come From Away . Not much choice with hotels! Quality Inn is clean and staff are very quick and friendly . Homemade banana bread at breakfast was very good , The pool is over chlorinated cloudy and small so skip it. Showers are very short thank goodness there was a large shower in the pool change room that opens at 7 AM I was able to use that otherwise could not stand in the shower in the room! Beds need replacing they creek too much and the hotel is showing it’s age but it is definitely worthwhile going to Gander. Check out the display at the airport so cool to see the history.

Rooms were spacious and well stocked. Was very quiet even though we were overlooking the Trans Canada Highway. Unfortunately the pool was closed for renovations but we had the complimentary breakfast and also dinner in the dining room. It was very good and sufficient without being excessive.

Upon checkin the staff mentioned that my room would not be ready until "at least 4 PM". In my view, the room should be guaranteed by that time since that's the posted checkin time. "At least" was not appropriate. The person at the front desk complained to me: suggesting that they were full the night prior and that cleaning staff were struggling to keep up. It was very odd to have staff complain to me upon my first arrival for check-in. The breakfast has very few options and a massive lineup. They should purchase a second toaster, more waffle irons, or more of whatever is needed to prevent the holdup. There is one staff member who obsesses over collecting breakfast tickets. She does nothing else but this. They had run out of coffee so I asked 'ticket-lady' for refills. She was unable to help as she was mid-way through counting a stack of tickets. The other staff member was upset about my coffee request. Her quick retort after I mentioned the coffee thermos's were empty was "Again!!??". I assured her that it was not me who had drank the 6-8 litres of coffee that was once in those thermos's. She didn't seem happy nonetheless. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls. The room was humid and the bathroom extractor fan was not functional. During our three night stay our room was never serviced -- garbage collected in the bins, and the towels got more and more damp with use. This is the first hotel that I've stayed in where the towels don't dry within 24 hours.

It has a small refrigerator. There is no microwave. It was clean. The restaurant was closed. The parking lot was not motorcycle friendly, it was on a hill but we managed. Breakfast was the usual, nothing special. The head of the beds was lower than the foot. They moved us to a different room for the first night. Then moved us back to the original room for the second night. Not sure why we had to move. They need better lighting. We did laundry there. We arrived on Gander Day so everything was closed. It is a holiday in Gander. We did visit the little museum and learned a lot about the history of Gander and its airport.

This hotel looks great on the outside and at the front desk but when you go in the hallways there is a musty smell, carpet is old wore out and the wall paper is peeling off the walls. In the rooms there is the same smell and the mattresses are the most uncomfortable wore out things we have ever slept on. We stayed at Quality Hotels in Corner Brook and St. John and they are nice and kept in good condition. This one really needs work
